The Deck of Fates

Varun here. As promised, the official first Zine poll is up!

Let's recap. A lot of pledge tiers come up with one or more Zines. Each Zine is a single adventure using a game system written by another publisher (like a collab!), with the catch that each adventure features the Deck at its core. Most of these Zines don't include the rules for the system as well, but many will be playable with just the free quick starts.

We're super fortunate to already know a bunch of publishers as friends, so naturally, they're all included in the list (and are super excited to be chosen)! Otherwise, we've also added a bunch of other publishers based on comments from you guys!

So how's the poll work? Starting today, you can go vote for a new game system + publisher to write a Zine. After 1 week, the poll will close and the winning choice will become a brand new Zine! If we manage to blow past our next Stretch Goal (in about 85 more Backers) before the poll closes, we'll take the top 2 choices (or more!) and turn them into Zines! So once the campaign is over, these new options will be available for folks to choose from!

Now, only Backers get to vote. BUT, there's nothing stopping you from getting your friends to help tip the scales ;)
ALSO, someone asked via email: if you have friends all living nearby and all want a Deck, we can ship them all to one address and save everyone some shipping! Just let us know via email at [email protected].

Anyway, so get your friends, get your votes in, and get your new favorite Zine!
If the pledge now, they'll also get the mid-campaign bonus reward! Remember, you won't get charged until the campaign is over, so if you're on the fence, now's the time!

Varun here. Thanks for the incredible support for the Deck of Fates in its first week!

This'll be a quick update. We've smashed past ANOTHER TWO STRETCH GOALS!
The latest was the new velvet cloth -- all the Premium Bundle and higher tiers will now include a custom-designed Velvet Cloth to go along with the Deck!

But the other, more exciting stretch goal is a NEW Collaborator Zine!
After the holiday is up (you'll get another update, don't worry), we're going to start a 5-day long poll to vote for a new Game System / Publisher that you'd like us to work with to make another Deck-themed Zine. Then, any tiers including Zines will be able to choose that new Zine. 

Every Backer gets 1 vote, but there's nothing stopping you from getting your friends to get their own Deck and tipping the Scales in your favor! At the end of the week, we'll announce the winning Zine!

Varun here, creator of the Deck of Fates. You all have been an AWESOME community as we wrap up day 2 by FINISHING TWO ENTIRE STRETCH GOALS!

That means, not only are all the cards getting upgraded to heavier and more durable "extra premium cardstock" (including the standard decks!), but the boxes are all getting foiled and replaced with a magnetic cover -- giving everything a beautiful box to match a beautiful deck. That's all possible because of YOU. THANK YOU!

But wait, we're just starting the journey. In just another 30-something Backers, we're hitting a super exciting Stretch Goal: a new Collaborator Zine! Initially, we picked out 3 different Zines to choose from: D&D 5E, Mazes, and a brand-new Solo RPG by Critical Kit. BUT, soon we'll be looking at a NEW Zine chosen by Backers like you! (more on that soon!)

But otherwise, the team here is so incredibly grateful for your support. So, we've decided to do something we weren't planning: we're introducing a MID-CAMPAIGN REWARD for all Backers, new and old!

Everyone who pledges for a Deck by Thursday, July 9th at 11:59 PM PST (including ALL current Backers) will get, in addition to their deck, a special Foiled copy of the original artwork for Madness and Calamity!



"Original artwork?" You might be asking. Yes! Exactly two of the cards, Madness and Calamity, were completely re-designed in the final deck. So the official copies of the Deck use the updated artwork. However, to thank you for your support in making all of this possible, the team decided we'll do a small print run of the original artwork in foil, and give it to all of you alongside your deck!

These original artwork cards will never be printed again. They're exclusively yours -- just a token of our thanks to you all.

Hi everyone!
Super excited to announce, the Deck of Fates is now FULLY FUNDED!
That means, it's not only definitely happening, but all the funding from here on goes to making even more awesome things to go along with the Deck!

More on those stretch goals later (which you can find on the page). In the meantime, for the next few days, I'm going to go over all the exciting things we have in this campaign -- starting with... The Collaborator Zines + The Call to Power Quickstart.

When we first made the Deck of Fates, we wanted to make sure we gave you a powerful tool AND the instructions. Though the deck comes with a neat booklet of info, these Zines and Quick Start are your field manual of sorts. 

Each book contains a complete ready-to-play adventure that focuses on the Deck. That means, the second you get your Deck, you can bring it to Game Night and get playing.

But, we also know there's a lot of games out there. So, we have Zines available in different game systems. Initially, we're just focusing on Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, Mazes, and a brand-new solo RPG by Critical Kit. But as we get more funding, we'll be adding more games chosen by Backers like you (more on this when we hit those goals!).

Haven't played any of those games? That's why we included a Quick Start for Call to Power too! This quick start uses a completely original TTRPG, inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen and Dark Souls, and includes ALL the rules to understand how to play -- alongside a rogue-lite replayable adventure with the Deck at its heart.

We'll have an official poll to add more Zines soon, but I'd love to hear from you folks now: what Zines do you want to see? What's YOUR favorite TTRPG? Leave a comment!
